  Her experience with the JWs seems clearly to be based only on the literature they decided to share with her. She might be an expert on the topic of child abuse but she can't really be an expert on the JWs and how they deal with child abuse unless they have shared everything with her (which no doubt they have NOT).

  i have been reading all the posts on this, and watched all the proceedings.

  it is very shocking and the jw elders look really bad.

  that being said, if the secular authorities made mandatory reporting everywhere across the board, would that not close the jw stupid loophole ?

  They'll try to find a way around any law they don't want to obey. Do you really think they report all allegations of pedos even in mandatory reporting states now? Of course they don't.

  And in that not-recorded phone call, the person at legal will find out where they live and then if they are in a mandatory reporting state, tell them to report it and if they are not in a mandatory reporting state will tell them NOT to report it. They ONLY EVER report when it is absolutely required by law.

  It isn't complicated at all. Every allegation of a crime should be reported to the police or to child protection authorities as the case may be. It is NOT UP TO THE ELDERS to determine whether the allegation has substance - that is for the authorities to decide.
